Good morning parents and guardians of seniors, In an effort to give you information about the portrait studio, please see the email below from the Indicator Yearbook Editors-in-Chief regarding health and safety information. They continue to work with ways to take photos and are aware along with the administration of concerns. I will continue to update you on information as it becomes available throughout this process. The maximum occupancy is 8 people, including studio staff and photographers. Parents are not allowed inside because we want to minimize density. 2. Temperature will be checked; all students are required to remain 6 feet apart at all times (as denoted by tape placements on the floor). 3. Photographers and staff will be masked at all times. 4. Students must be masked when moving between stations. 5. Students will only be unmasked when taking the portrait. They will be separated from other students with a sheet of plastic. 6. All shared clothing is sanitized with UV exposure and disinfectant immediately following use. Updates: Approximately 300 students have already been photographed or have registered. Regarding Self-Submissions: We will be allowing self-submissions, but at the moment, we are focusing solely on those taking portraits in-person. After we receive all official portraits, we will be cross-referencing the company's list with our senior masterlist to identify students who have not taken their portrait. Then, we will be reaching out to those students with a procedure for how to self-submit. The company will be opening more time slots in late January, but since they will only be able to update one week in advance, we suggest registering now to ensure that you are guaranteed a spot. We have guaranteed that there will be enough time after-school time slots for all students who have indicated in our survey that they will be taking January portraits, but if all students wait until the last week to register, there will not be enough spaces left. Combined with during-school times, there are more than enough spaces to accommodate all students! Please let us know if this poses any difficulties, and we will do our best to work around your situation. Availability for January 18 is currently open (it is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so there will be no school that Monday); sign up for morning/afternoon sessions if you can! Senior portrait information

Good evening parents and guardians of seniors, Your children received the following information from the Indicator Yearbook staff. The survey is for the seniors to fill out, not parents. Please, however, read the following information. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Dina Please read the message below from The Indicator with important information regarding senior portraits. Hi seniors, Regarding the senior portraits sign-up that was sent out earlier this week, you may sign up for an appointment if you feel comfortable doing so. However, if you feel uncomfortable leaving the house at this time or are unavailable in December, Mr. Lonardo has emailed the portraits company about appointments in January. We will share new time slots as soon as we receive updates. If you are unable to leave the house at all, we will be working on a plan for a photographer to take your senior portrait at your house. To summarize, there will be 4 options available to you: 1. Round 1 (December): Take portraits with PortraitsUSA via this link: https://SeniorPortraitsScheduling.as.me/STUY<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fseniorpor…> 2. Round 2 (Late January): Take portraits with PortraitsUSA at a later date. If possible, please avoid pushing off your portraits to Round 2, as we will not be able to guarantee an appointment if all appointments in Round 2 are filled. 3. At-Home Photographer (Tentative): If you are unable to leave your house, we may send a photographer to you to take a professional photo. (Please note that this option will be more expensive than getting photographed at the studio.) 4. If the aforementioned options are not viable for you, you will not be photographed. Your name will appear in the yearbook, but no portrait will appear in the formal senior section. We will not be accepting self submissions. Some important notes: * You will not be excused from class to take your portrait, but if you have a free period and can travel to the studio site, feel free to sign up for the morning or afternoon. Otherwise, there are times available after school. * The 2nd and 3rd options are still tentative, but we will keep you updated as soon as we hear back from the administration and the portrait company. We will work with the company to try to offer time slots during weekends and over break. * The sitting fee ($10.00) does not include physical copies of your portrait. Those must be purchased separately (and will be available 2-3 weeks after you take your portrait). If you opt to have a photographer come to your house, the fee will be greater. * If this is a financial burden, please indicate so in the form below. We will do our best to help alleviate any stress. * If you have questions about refunds or concerns regarding safety protocols, please also indicate in the form below. Dear Senior families: Please see the message below on behalf of the Editors-in-Chief of the The Indicator Yearbook related to the senior photo email you received yesterday. We will update you later in the week with more details s they become available. All the best, Dina Dear parents, We apologize on behalf of the Stuyvesant Indicator for the miscommunication regarding senior portraits. We were not informed in advance about the email that was distributed tonight, as we did not have prior notice that portraits were already finalized. Personally, we (the Editors-in-Chief) strongly discourage signing up to take portraits at the moment, considering the recent spike in virus cases. We were not notified that PortraitsUSA would be releasing a sign-up link, as we have never been in contact with them. However, if you are comfortable going to the site (and/or have already signed up), PortraitsUSA will be our official portrait company and will be glad to take your child's senior portrait. We are currently in touch with the Student Union, Senior Caucus, and school administration to implement a safer system to take and collect senior portraits, with more detailed guidelines and information. We have not yet received a response, but we will update Ms. Ingram as soon as we hear from our faculty advisor. Again, we apologize profusely for the sudden email. You may continue to sign up for portraits with PortraitsUSA, though we discourage it. Make-up photos will be available later in the year. If you are on the fence about it, please postpone signing up, as we are working on a better alternative for you. Hopefully, we will be able to provide updates sometime this week, as we understand that this is stressful for everyone. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding! Locker clean out/Textbook Return

Dear Stuyvesant families, Please read these guidelines carefully about the textbook return/locker clean out for grades 10-12 below. We will host this event beginning the week of November 16 from 2:30 to 4pm. Students and/or family members must arrive by 3:45pm to enter the building. Important — anyone entering the building MUST perform the Health Screening<https://healthscreening.schools.nyc/> and temperature check and abide by the travel advisory guidelines <https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-travel-advisory> for New York. Textbook return is not mandatory at this time. * Students should bring their Stuy ID. Family members need a valid photo ID to enter the building. * Please arrive early. There will only be 12 students allowed to enter the building at one time. * There may be a wait time. Please plan accordingly and be prepared to wait. * Students must maintain proper social distancing by adhering to markings on the ground/floor. Please have a conversation about social distancing at home. * Masks must be worn by all. * Students dropping off textbooks and not cleaning out lockers do not need to wait in line; they may just drop them off at the bridge entrance. * IMPORTANT: Include a post-it with the student full name and OSIS in all books being returned. How to convert 2019-2020 grades to "CR"

Dear parents and guardians, The report card your child received on June 26, 2020 may have contained numerical grades of 65 or higher that you and your child would prefer to be changed to “CR” (credit). If this is the choice you and your child made, you must communicate this request through your parent Talos account on talos.stuy.edu<http://talos.stuy.edu>. Click “CR List” on the left side bar of your account and then click “create” to select the grades you want to “CR”. Parents have the right to submit or revise their preference through March 1, 2021. Schools must honor all such requests. We are offering an expedited request for seniors for early college applications. For seniors applying to Questbridge, these CR requests changes must be submitted on Talos no later than September 27, 2020 at 5pm. For early applications deadlines, you may make changes to these requests to appear on college applications until November 1, 2020 at 11:59pm. Only marking period 3 grades appear on the transcript. The changes to CR are reflected in the final grade on the transcript. Parents may choose the CR option for all passing courses or for specific passing courses. You have the right to discuss this option with school staff. Dear parents and guardians, Remember your family’s excitement for CAMP STUY? Virtual Camp Stuy (a special welcome event for the incoming Stuy parents/guardians) is scheduled for September 2nd and we are looking for 55 volunteers (sophomore/junior/senior parents/guardians) to join the smaller breakout zoom sessions to answer questions about their Stuy experience, alongside with homeroom leads, guidance counselors, and other staff. Your help is needed. Training will be offered (some materials plus a Zoom training session for those interested to join on Monday evening on August 31).
