Good Stuy family,

Wishing you a sincere congratulations on your child's graduation today from Stuy! Below is an email your graduate received from the Senior Caucus last night with last details and graduate instructions for today. We are so proud of all our seniors for this accomplishment during one of the most difficult of high school experiences. We hope you have a wonderful day celebrating and looking forward to seeing you at Arthur Ashe stadium this afternoon.

Warmly,
Dina

Subject: Graduation Instructions [Must Read]

Hey Seniors,

We are graduating tomorrow! But we need you to read through the special instructions below so that everything can go smoothly tomorrow.

Arrival

  • Homeroom Readers are to arrive at 10:30am, as indicated in the email sent to you all earlier today.

  • All Other Seniors are to arrive at 11am. Please be prompt.

  • Families should arrive after 11am, but note that we are asking the students to come early because we are starting the ceremony exactly at 12 noon. We expect families to be seated in the stadium at 12 noon.

    • All graduation tickets were sent out. If you did not receive yours, it is likely because you entered an incorrect email address or your payment did not go through. Please email polazzo@stuy.edu if you believe you fall into that category.

Seating

  • All students will be seated on the court floor in the center of the stadium. Upon arrival, students should come down to the floor and find their homeroom section. Students will be seated by homeroom.

    • Students can sit in any order in their designated homeroom section — they do not need to sit in alphabetical order.

    • Seating assignments for each homeroom can be found here. We are just giving this to you early so you can take a look and better understand the seating.

    • There will also be homeroom labels on the chairs that designate the start of each homeroom.

    • Homeroom readers must sit in the first two chairs of their homeroom section.

    • For the 8 homerooms with homeroom teachers present, as noted on the document, the homeroom teachers will be sitting in that first seat. Homeroom readers will then sit in the second and third chairs, in that case.

Ceremony Procedure

  • Before the ceremony begins, your homeroom readers will hand out your Marching Order cards to you. You need to hold onto these as you will present them to the computer kids before you walk the stage.

  • When we get to the portion of the ceremony where students will walk the stage, we will go in alphabetical order of homerooms - 7AA first, then 7BB. Your homeroom reader will tell you when to get up and join the line.

  • We will be walking around for questions.

Special note: If you are wearing a mask, we might suggest that you take it off as you are crossing the stage, as photographs will be taken at that time.

That is all! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Best,

Elio Torres
