*NOTE: AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS EMAIL ARE INSTRUCTIONS TO SENIOR FAMILIES ON CR REQUESTS FOR FALL TERM 2021 SENIOR GRADES TO BE RELEASED ON THE EVENING OF JANUARY 31.

January 27, 2022

Dear Senior Students,

We are releasing  preliminary Spring Term 2022 programs to students today, Thursday, January 27, 2022. Programs meet graduation and Stuyvesant endorsement requirements. Finalized programs will be visible on Talos on February 2, 2022. Students will have the opportunity to request ONE program change. More information is below on what qualifies as one program change request and how and when to submit a program change.

Please make sure you are in the 2021-2022 school year, Term 2 in Talos in the upper right corner (not visible on your phone) to see your Spring Schedule.

Your preliminary Spring 2022 schedule is now available on Talos. Talos is the portal where you can submit a program change request, which will be available to different groups at different times indicated below:

Seniors:  6:00 pm Thursday January 27, 2022

Juniors:  9:00 pm Thursday January 27, 2022

Sophomores and Freshmen:  4:00 pm Friday January 28, 2022

IMPORTANT: The deadline for all students to submit program change requests through Talos is Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 11:59pm EST.

Important Directions and Guidelines (Please Read Thoroughly):
  • All requests must be accompanied with a justification for your request. YOU WILL BE LIMITED TO ONLY ONE PROGRAM CHANGE REQUEST. The definition of “one” program change request is “one dropped class accompanied by one added class OR one dropped class OR one added class”. Your justification allows for School Counselors and/or Department Chairs/Assistant Principals to easily identify the purpose of your request, which will inform their decision in either approving or denying the request, or perhaps devising an alternative. The highest priority for a program change request will be given to meeting NYSED graduation and Stuyvesant requirements.
  • Counselors and Department Chairs/Assistant Principals have the option in Talos to leave messages for you upon approving or denying a request. You may write messages to your counselor and to the Assistant Principals here as well. All messages can be viewed in Talos.
  • Since program change requests are to be exclusively handled through Talos, and messages are being posted and reviewed through Talos; extraneous emails will slow down the process of program changes. Therefore, upon submitting a request, please wait patiently until the request has been handled.

Follow the directions below to submit a program change request:
  1. Click on the “Program Management Portal”
  2. Click “Create Change” located on the right
  3. Click the corresponding “Drop” button to drop a course
  4. Find the requested course in the search area in the lower left and then click, “Add Course” to your schedule. Talos will prevent you from submitting an impossible schedule through red warning dialogues after clicking “Add Course”

Upon generating the request, Talos will notify the appropriate Guidance Counselor and Department Chair/Assistant Principal for review and approval/denial. Please refer to the FAQ to understand the overall program change request process.

Please do not reply directly to this email.
The Program Office  will be updating the FAQ

Dear parents and guardians,

Your child will receive their report card via email on Tuesday February 8, 2021.  Parents/guardians with Talos accounts will also receive them via email with comments translated in their written preferred languages and they will be visible in Talos under the “grades” tab in MP3 for 20221-2022 Term 1.

Parents/guardians may choose to have any numerical passing grade of 65 or higher updated to a passing grade of “credit” (CR). Grades of “CR” will not be factored into students’ GPAs. If this is the choice you and your child make, you must communicate this request through your parent Talos account on talos.stuy.edu

Parents/guardians of SENIORS: In order for transcripts to be updated to reflect changes in time to be sent to colleges and institutions with midyear grades, senior families should begin to review grades using parent Talos accounts as well as parent NYC Schools Accounts at mystudent.nyc beginning at 6:00 pm on Monday, January 31, 2022. We will post grades to Talos under “Grades” and “MP3” for seniors.

If you are interested in requesting any passing grade of 65 or higher converted to “CR”, these requests must be submitted no later than Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 6:00 pm via parent Talos accounts.

Instructions:
  • Click “CR List” on the left side bar of your account and then click “create” to select the grades you want to “CR”.
  • Please ensure you toggle to ‘School Year 2020-2022 Term 1 in the upper right hand corner.

Any parent who needs assistance accessing their Talos account should contact Ms. Ingram at ringram3@schools.nyc.gov

Please note, the transcript is a record of all the classes a student is enrolled in over their high school career; this includes classes taken over the summer. A change to “CR” if requested will be reflected in the final grade on the transcript.

Parents may choose the "CR" option for all courses with a passing grade or for specific courses with a passing grade. You have the right to discuss these options with school staff.

Should you have any questions or concerns, you may reach out to your child’s School Counselor or the Assistant Principal, Pupil Personnel Services, Ms. Casey J. Pedrick at cpedrick@schools.nyc.gov.

All the best,
Stuyvesant High School
