Dear rising 9th graders,

If you have already taken the online science placement exam for Stuyvesant High School or are not interested in taking an AP science course during 9th grade, no further action is required.

If you are interested in taking the placement exam to be considered for a 9th grade Advanced Placement science course, please review your options below.

You only need to take one exam; the options are provided so you can choose a time that is convenient for you. This exam will be used to determine possible placement in  AP Biology or AP Environmental Science. Below are the options for taking your placement exam from home online. The forms open and close promptly for each testing window.  The links will NOT be available until the testing window begins.

You MUST click SUBMIT before the window closes for your responses to be recorded.

You must be logged into your stuy.edu email in order to access the forms.

The exam is all multiple choice; choose the best answer.  The questions are based on your ability to interpret data and diagrams- there is no specific content you will need to study. You will have 50 minutes to complete the exam.

Based on your exam score, programming constraints, your preference, seat availability, and other factors, you will be placed in the appropriate science course for 9th grade.  Taking this placement exam does not guarantee placement in an AP class. Your 9th-grade science class does not impact your other course placement, nor does it impact your progression in science throughout high school.

A few helpful tips:

· Make sure you are logged into your stuy.edu email account

· Make sure your device is plugged in/fully charged so you don't have to stress during your exam.

· Set a timer for 50 minutes, and  you make sure to click "Submit" at the end of the form.  If you don't submit before time is up, your work will not be saved.

· Keep paper and pencil nearby in case you want to jot down some notes based on the passages you read.

· The placement exam has 8 sections- you will need to press "Next" to unlock each section (only 7 are science question sections with a total of approximately 40 questions; the first section is for your name, OSIS, etc. Make sure you have your OSIS (Student ID) ready!)

· Take a deep breath! You may not recognize everything, but you will be able to solve it based on the content presented.
