A reminder for instructions on elective programming — remember, parent Talos accounts cannot access programming selections. Only students can access them and this is for current grades 9-11; not incoming freshmen currently in grade 8. You must read the key information thoroughly, including the Elective descriptions<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-jmzmHhxkPQKTzspBt3GIlrZlX1s63r3uBmv...> and the required prerequisites/eligibility needed for the respective course/s, so you are prepared to submit your preferences correctly. Please take your time submitting your choices as the preferences are not first come, first serve. When you choose your preferred electives, you will see the Advanced Placement (AP) courses that you have been initially approved for listed in your Course Selection Form on Talos. Your preference selections will be reviewed and used to build your overall student program--we build student programs by prioritizing graduation requirements and by giving each student a minimum of 7.5 periods (Physical Education and Lunch included). Please submit your Elective preferences by the deadline of June 9 at 8:00am. TIMELINE: 1. May 23, 2025 * Elective course preference form in Talos available to students following the order below: * 10:00 am – Rising seniors * 12:00 pm – Rising juniors * 2:00 pm – Rising sophomores * NOTE: Students will see their AP course preferences in which they are approved to apply for in their Talos accounts. Students should use this information when considering ranking their elective choices. * June 9, 2025 (8:00am) * Deadline to submit elective course preferences in Talos KEY ELECTIVE COURSE INFORMATION: It is important to note that the Electives course preference process occurs in Talos<https://talos.stuy.edu/auth/login/>. When the Electives preference forms are released in Talos on the designated date/times, you will have the opportunity to fill out the course preference form to inform the school of the Elective courses you prefer to take next school year. Please be aware no student is guaranteed a seat in a course until student programs are finalized in September 2025. Review the Fall 2025 course offerings<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-jmzmHhxkPQKTzspBt3GIlrZlX1s63r3uBmv...> to explore the courses and prerequisites/eligibility requirements. DIRECTIONS TO SUBMIT COURSE PREFERENCES: Review the instructions below, including screenshots, to understand how to submit your course preferences in Talos. Please note, these will not be viewable on Talos until the elective course selection window opens on May 23rd. REMINDER: Course selection is NOT on a first come, first serve basis--you do NOT get preference if you are the first one to finish your selections, so please take your time determining which courses to request. Once logged into Talos, you should locate three tabs: Dashboard; Grades; and Graduation Requirements. Dashboard is an overview and contains your current choices, your schedule, and your saved choices. The Grades tab has your transcript data and is used to determine your eligibility to select certain courses.Once you are on the Grades tab, click the dropdown under ALL SCHOOLS and choose 02M475, so that you are viewing only Stuyvesant grades. The Graduation Requirements tab contains a button named Course Selection Form. It will appear when the selection starts. Before then, you will not be able to locate it. There is a section at the bottom of your elective selection form titled “(WARNING!) I want to drop the following AP courses:” This is where you will find the Advanced Placement (AP) courses that you have been initially approved for. You can use this section to drop an AP course you no longer want. Please be careful with this section and only choose from the dropdown if you wish to give up your seat (you may not be able to get the seat back). Please make sure to select the AP courses you’ve been initially approved for under one of the categories. If the AP course is not listed under the corresponding category, it will be under the Elective category. Finally, please note, this is a preference form only. No request is binding and no student is guaranteed a seat in a course. Again, this is a preference form only. No request is binding and no student is guaranteed a seat in a course. There is a FAQ<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ffejN5Mg7UBcivQpPYolUjpE-hpPfaV4ObxYy9BH...> that will be updated regularly. If there is an issue with courses not appearing on Talos that you qualify for, please email stuyvesantprogramoffice@schools.nyc.gov<mailto:stuyvesantprogramoffice@schools.nyc.gov>.
