Dear Stuyvesant Community, The NYC Public Schools (NYCPS) have updated its COVID-19 policy based on the updated CDC health guidance. Instead of a minimum isolation period of 5 days, the CDC recommends people with COVID-19 should stay home and away from others based on their symptoms, similar to how they would for any other respiratory infections, like flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Consequently, there will no longer be a COVID intake form for reporting positive test results to the school. Students should follow and use the regular absence protocol<https://stuy.enschool.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=192269&type=d> upon a student’s return to school. If someone has COVID-19 symptoms<https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html>, they should still get tested and separate from others immediately. It is recommended that they stay home until they have had no fever without taking fever-reducing medicine and other COVID-19 symptoms have improved for at least 24 hours. If they test positive for COVID-19 but have no symptoms, there is no need to stay home, but precautions should be taken upon return to school such as wearing a mask. The NYCPS will continue to provide COVID-19 test kits upon request. You may pick up a test kit in room 103 if needed.
