The Administration made a decision in September outlining the three priorities below that determined Stuyvesant’s programming for this school year: * Access and availability for the array of courses currently offered to students including Advanced Placement and key electives * Desire to have Stuyvesant teachers teaching the courses rather than substitutes * Optimize the teaching staff for both remote and blended students in consideration of the number of faculty with approved medical and primary care accommodations through June 2021 Remote instruction will continue through the end of this school year for both remote and blended students. Attendance NYC DOE indicated the final opportunity to opt into blended learning for the 2020-2021 school year was in late November 2020. They have re-emphasized their stand on that policy. If more information becomes available, and there is a change as we reopen after March 22, we will make students and families aware. You may reach out to Ms. Ingram at ringram3@schools.nyc.gov<https://stuy.enschool.org/apps/pages/ingram3@schools.nyc.gov> or the student’s school counselor to discuss. * Students who are in blended learning are required to attend in person daily. * If a student does not attend in person during the first week, we will call their parent or guardian to confirm the student’s enrollment in blended instruction and find out why the student has not attended in person. * If a family indicates that they do not intend to have the student attend in person, the student will be moved to fully remote learning. * If a blended student does not attend in person, and there is no extenuating circumstance (i.e. sickness, quarantining, caring for siblings, etc), the student will be moved to fully remote learning. Health & Safety * DOE buildings will be cleaned and disinfected on a nightly basis * All staff and students will continue to complete the DOE Health Screening<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhealthscre...> daily before entering the building. * 20% of in-person students and staff at each school will be tested on a weekly basis. This is mandatory. * Consent to COVID testing is attached and may be returned to adicarlo@stuy.edu<mailto:adicarlo@stuy.edu> * Parents/Guardians of blended learners may consent in their NYC Schools account. Email Ms. Ingram at ringram3@schools.nyc.gov<mailto:ringram3@schools.nyc.gov> if you need assistance. * Students and staff who have recently traveled outside of New York to a place on the State’s travel advisory list must quarantine for 10 days or test out of the 10-day quarantine based on the State’s guidance, which can be found here<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcoronaviru...>. As a reminder, DOE staff and students are prioritized for testing at H+H sites across the city; please click here<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww1.nyc.g...> for a list of sites. Plans for Socialization and PSAL * The Program Office will make efforts to group students in pods based on lunch and free periods to afford more opportunities for student interaction. * Socialization and community building activities will be planned and posted for students. * Outdoor activities, games and opportunities away from screens will be encouraged and supervised as much as possible. * PSAL sports will reconvene in ‘practices’ outdoors in April with more information to follow. Next week will be a busy week so it will be important to read all emails and communication from the school.
