Dear Stuy Families,

As a one last reminder, the survey for opting into remote learning is due TODAY, AUGUST 7, 2020.  Please note, the Town Hall from yesterday can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/fGfxBgFql7Q

You may also view the Q&A that was asked last night attached.

The Chancellor letter released yesterday is attached as well.

You may read the latest health and safety protocols from the DOE here: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-year-20-21/return-to-school-2020/health-and-safety

OPT INTO REMOTE LEARNING FOR YOUR CHILD AT THIS SITE: https://www.nycenet.edu/surveys/learningpreference
NOTE: you do NOT have to fill in this survey to participate in blended in-person instruction in Fall 2020.

Some frequently asked for informational points:
  • Any student who is a blended learning student may opt into remote only learning at any time.
  • Any student who opts into remote-only learning as of August 7, 2020 may only opt back into blended in-person learning at the one of the four pre-determined times; the first of which will be November.
  • A fully-remote only student does NOT come to the building for in-person learning or other activities.
  • A blended learning student will attend school on a rotating schedule assigned to one of 4 cohorts that will have 75% of instruction remote and 25% in-person.
  • The schedules for fully remote and blended students will be interchangeable such that students may move between blended and remote learning.
  • The course catalog may be impacted whether or not Stuyvesant is 100% ’school wide remote’ or blended by recent information from the DOE such as the parameters on 5 hours, 29 minutes of instructional time for students, lunch being during instructional periods, and/or teacher time reductions for instructional time.
  • We do not know at this time whether teachers will be synchronously teaching from the building or how much/many classes will be taught live; but the DOE is in talks with the UFT regarding this.

We know this is a very difficult decision and want you to make the one that best suits your family’s circumstances and concerns. We hope to offer as much information as available to us as quickly as possible.

Best,
Dina
