Stuyvesant Families, This morning the school received an anonymous phone call for a potential threat. We immediately followed protocol including notifying our safety agents, NYPD, and the entire administration. Based on the information from the phone call we moved into a shelter in, which means students and staff continue business as usual but are not allowed to enter or leave the building. Students who were coming to school and/or on the bridge were held at the bridge with safety agents momentarily. After a brief preliminary assessment and in coordination with the NYPD, we brought students into the building. After following protocols and conducting our investigation, we deemed the threat NOT credible. However, we are continuing to take extra precautions by having our safety agents, NYPD, and school staff be visible inside and outside the building. Additionally, students will remain in the building for lunch and free periods throughout the day as an extra precaution. We will send another update about precautions for dismissal and extracurricular activities later in the day. Sincerely, Seung C.
